INTRODUCTION
PELO is an innovative travel luggage for pet owners who want to travel with their pets. It streamlines the entire travel process, from boarding to destination, saving valuable time and energy.
This project is designed for a fictional brand, Kuro, which is dedicated to creating pet products that enhance the interaction between users and their pets.
BACKGROUND
As pet travel becomes more popular, both pets and owners often face significant difficulties during flights due to restrictive pet carrier regulations. This brief explores some key issues with current market offerings in pet carriers and identifies the two main problems that need to be addressed: comfort and portability.
IDEATION
Identifying the product's main goal, I brainstormed to make transitions from flight to destination seamless and energy-efficient for users. This led to a modular design combining a pet carrier with travel luggage, allowing travelers to use the pet carrier during flights and leave it at accommodations for easier movement in foreign cities.
FORM DEVELOPMENT
Over the following weeks, I conducted thorough research on every detail of luggage and pet carriers to ensure accurate scale references. I refined the model's surface and achieved a sleek main form with well-aligned details. By experimenting with various CMFs, I aimed to create a modern and inspirational aesthetic that aligned perfectly with my mood board.
FINAL FORM
PELO revolutionizes travel for pet owners by combining a pet carrier with traditional luggage, optimizing space for seamless journeys. It simplifies the travel process from boarding to destination, saving time and energy.
Designed to meet flight standards, PELO ensures a stress-free, comfortable experience for both dogs and cats.
SCALE
This luggage scale aligns with most airlines' medium to large size standards, while the pet carrier meets large carrier requirements, accommodating cats of all sizes and dogs from small to medium size.
PET CARRIER
The pet carrier securely locks onto the luggage via a hidden groove system on the luggage top—simply align and press down for a strong connection. To release, press the handle button and it should disassemble smoothly.
Constructed from durable aluminum alloy like the luggage, it features soft, breathable side and top mesh fabrics for comfort. The sturdy front window offers easy pet interaction, enhancing the travel experience for both pet and owner.
LUGGAGE
Constructed from durable aluminum alloy for robust structural support against damage, this design features handles wrapped in soft faux fabric and ergonomic structure that minimizes lifting effort.
Additionally, it includes a compact compartment designed specifically for storing everyday essentials for both pets and their owners, ensuring convenience and accessibility.
